Job description

Miki Travel are looking for individuals who are passionate about the travel industry and motivated to join a growing organisation.

Our office in the City of London offers a multicultural environment and employs people with a diverse range of experience.

We bring incoming tourists from Japan to Europe, more recently expanding into incoming tours from Asia to Europe, and the provision of wholesale hotel accommodation and related online products.

About the Department

The e-business purchasing teams’ primary role is to engage with hotel suppliers to negotiate the most competitive rates and availability via static, dynamic and channel manager contracts. The department works closely with all areas of the business, but notably sales, systems development and accounting.

As the department continues to grow there is a requirement to increase our profile, strengthen our partnerships and further expand our e-business purchasing portfolio.

Job Purpose

You will be responsible for all aspects of the business within the specified region for eBusiness Purchasing by ensuring the team negotiates best possible rates, availability, terms and conditions between Miki Travel and the hotel sector through static, channel manager & Dynamic Inventory partner agreements.

To do this and be successful, you will need strong management, negotiation and commercial skills, be self-motivated and results driven with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in particular across cultures beyond Europe.

In a fast moving environment of constant change and development the ability to adapt quickly and manage change will be an asset, as will the ability to contribute new ideas for which there will be ample opportunity.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage Product Managers within the region
  • Manage regional budgets and targets, achieving targets within budget
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key hotel partners within the region
  • Ensure contractors negotiate best possible rates, and terms & conditions within given deadlines
  • Regularly review product range and rate within the team to monitor competitor pricing and availability in line with demand
  • Attend key trade shows within the region
  • Work closely with the Dynamic Inventory team to prioritise direct links and channel managers
  • Provide continuous feedback to internal management through meetings, formal reporting and reviews
  • Work closely with eBusiness Product Sales Managers
  • Ensure all business activities comply with relevant financial, legislative, legal demands and ethical standards of the organisation
  • Drive the business forward in line with the company strategy and growth plans
  • Review sales reports and competitor analysis within the region and communicate necessary action required to management and direct reports
  • Work closely with Heads of eBiz Purchasing in other regions to ensure best practice is strived for and consistency within the eBiz Purchasing Division is maintained.

  • Global & Regional Heads of eBusiness Sales

  • Heads of FIT Reservations, Operations & Inventory
  • eBiz development

Skills and Experience

 Required Experience/Knowledge

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in wholesale contracting to include at least three years in mid management Level.
  • Experience in other travel industry segments as well as markets beyond Europe will also be an advantage.
  • Experience in dynamic product distribution and/or channel manager contracting.
  • Good presentation skills.
