In-House Legal Adviser – Part-time (3 days per week)

 

Job Purpose

Role Purpose - The Legal department needs an additional commercial legal counsel, reporting to the General Counsel, to deliver the legal advice, contractual review, drafting and negotiation needed to support the pipeline of commercial activities.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • To advise, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, (including supply and purchase, agency and tour operator).
  • Manage the conduct of claims and disputes (including employment).
  • Providing pragmatic legal advice, both verbally and in writing.
  • Drafting contracts and policies as required.

 

Skills and Experience

Relevant Skills/Characteristics

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-3 years PQE (This is a guideline only. All candidates with relevant experience will be considered).
  • Able to work confidently and proactively in a team, or independently.
  • Good verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to use initiative and act autonomously.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Highly organised and systematic way of working, to thrive in a pressured environment with tight deadlines.
  • Resilience, and a can-do attitude to thrive in an environment of constant change / process improvement.

 

Required Experience/Knowledge:

Essential

  • Solid commercial contract work experience with strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to recognize legal risks and propose solutions.
  • Sound knowledge of Employment Law.
  • Experience of intellectual property rights and a good understanding of IT service agreements, consumer/competition law, and e commerce and data protection.
  • UK Qualified or recognised UK Qualifications.
  • Eligible to work in the UK

 

Desirable

  • In-house commercial experience, including via Private Practice secondment.
  • Experience in the Travel and Tourism sector would be an advantage.
